Plastic waste is a worldwide problem

The oceans are full of trillions of synthetic fibres from our clothing that disappear through the drains during washing. According to some, you could stop these fibres going down the drain by putting the sock of a pair of tights around the washing machine’s drain hose. I tried that (it seemed a simple solution), but unfortunately, the sock fell off immediately, because the draining water came out with too much force (even with an elastic band or tie-wrap around the sock) I’m trying to come up with a solution that is affordable to as many people as possible and requires little work. But that makes sure that no or at least a lot fewer synthetic fibres make their way to the environment and oceans.
